Bruce Harris of Lake City arrested on charges, including robbery

LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A man is under arrest, accused of stealing $150 from a woman's purse, after telling her he had a gun.

Bruce Harris was arrested after a search, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.  The victim told deputies Tuesday afternoon that the robber took off on a motorized scooter, which hit her leg.

Sheriff's Office patrol deputies began a search of the area and found the  scooter hidden in a shed behind a residence on SW Diamond Court in Lake City.  They found Harris hiding inside and took him into custody without incident.

Deputies also found a .12 gauge shotgun and a 9mm handgun from the area the suspect was hiding at.

A check of the scooter revealed it had been reported stolen out of Alachua County, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office news release.

Harris was booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility on charges of Robbery while Armed, Aggravated Battery, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Use of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Resisting Arrest without Violence and Violation of Probation.
