NBC's Today show continues to make news, instead of cover it.

On Tuesday, as rivals CBS, CNN, Fox and ABC all broke away from regular programming to cover a moment of silence in commemoration for 9/11, Today aired Kardashian family matriarch Kris Jenner talking about her breast augmentation.

Embarrassing.

Even more embarrassing is that they were chatting about her breast augmentation surgery. "I had my implants in for 152 years ..." she explained. "It was so important to remind women to check your expiration date!"

Even Good Morning America, which had Jessica Simpson helping to co-host the show in its second hour as Robin Roberts is on medical leave, recognized the moment at 8:48 a.m. ET, the exact time 11 years ago when the first plane hit the World Trade Center. George Stephanopoulos then started an interview with Richard Gere, who recalled that he was driving in the northeast that day, heading to a retreat.

NBC pointed out that Today had a lengthy interview with a World Trade Center survivor earlier in its show and another segment talking about memories of the event. While Today covered the annual moment of silence last year for the 10th anniversary, it had not in a few of the previous years, spokeswoman Megan Kopf tells AP.

Today did insert coverage of the moment into the program's later West Coast feed.
