JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Sunday marks the start of National Suicide Prevention Week. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among 15 to 24-year-olds according to the American Association of Suicidology.
To help educate local teens about suicide prevention and the effects of bullying Gateway Community Services Inc is holding a Skate for Life fundraiser at Kona Skatepark. Volunteers will be there answering questions and handing out material from 11am until 5pm Sunday.
Local musicians like The Pinz and Mantas Kesimas donated their time to entertain event goers.
Admission was $10, and proceeds benefited Gate Community Services.
Organizers plan to make it an annual event.
