PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Two Putnam County deputies were conducting a routine traffic stop when they found a kilogram of cocaine underneath the driver's seat of a car driven by Margarito Arvizu.
The Putnam County man was driving on Highway 17 south of Crescent City.
The deputies observed Arvizu's vehicle swerving from lane-to-lane so they pulled him over. Arvizu told the deputies he was talking on his cell phone.
The deputies proceeded to search his car and found a kilogram of cocaine under the driver seat, according to a news release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.
As police approached Arvizu, he began backing up and tried to get the officers arms away from him. Then they were finally able restrain Arvizu, a revolver was found in his waistband.
Arvizu has been charged with trafficking in cocaine, carrying a concealed firearm during the commission of a felony, and resisting an officer without violence.
He is currently being detained without bond.
