BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- A man has been found guilty of murder and cruelty to children in the first degree in the 2009 death of a 17-month-old girl.
Daryl Keon Jones, 35, was sentenced to life in prison in the death of Brianna Hester, who died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head on May 1, 2009, according to evidence.
Hester was the daughter of Kim Hester, Jones' live-in girlfriend at the time.
Jury selection began on Monday and three days of testimony followed. It took the jury less than two hours on Thursday to find Jones guilty in the death of Hester, according to a release from the District Attorney's office of the Brunswick Judicial Circuit.
In September 2010, Jones was freed on bond on a medical condition, as he was going through kidney dialysis. In December 2010, a mistrial was declared against Jones after the jury deadlocked.
