The flu usually sees its peak of cases in February, which is why there is often a push for vaccinations in the fall. These summer cases highlight the importance of making sure a person is vaccinated no matter what time of the year it is.
"There is a strong message here, get yourself vaccinated . We often find the people who get the flu have not been vaccinated," said Dr. Mobeen Rathore with the University of Florida & Shands in Jacksonville.
You only need one vaccination each year and you can do it by the nasal spray or by injection.
The symptoms are a fever, runny nose, cough, sore throat, body aches. If you believe you have the flu, you need to see a medical professional before you get worse or infect someone else.
