JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman Terrance Knighton's injuries resulted from an altercation at Pure nightclub, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report that also asserts he and a friend threatened to shoot people.
The initial argument that led to the altercation could have been related to Knighton and a friend known as "Spoon" being disrespectful to a female patron, according to the investigation report by an officer who was working off duty at Pure.
A Twitter account "Spoon4824" shows that "Spoon" is actually Tommie Witherspoon, and several pictures of he and Knighton from past visits to Pure are displayed. The Twitter account appeared to have been aken down some time Tuesday afternoon.
Security escorted Knighton, "Spoon," and others outside of the club at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Prior to this, Knighton and "Spoon" were involved in a physical altercation with several people inside of the club, according to the report.
While outside, Knighton and "Spoon" made several threats to shoot people, according to the report.
After telling the two to leave several times, club personnel reportedly had to physically force them into their vehicle, an orange Dodge Challenger.
Knighton appeared to have been drinking and had a cut to the back of his head and his eye, which led to him needing surgery, according to the report.
In response to the report, the Jaguars released this statement:
"We are aware of the incident report regarding Terrance Knighton. We hold all of our players to a high standard of behavior, as does the National Football League. We're concerned about this matter, and it is being handled internally. We'll have no further comment at this time."
Knighton took to his Twitter account "Yougotroasted96" to say, "Thank you everyone for the support. I plan on making a full recovery. Thank you fans, family and friends."
