Japan Earthquake, 5.7 Magnitude
JAPAN (NBC) -- A strong earthquake rattled Northeast Japan Thursday.
The 5.7 magnitude quake struck 13 miles east-southeast of Iwaki near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan.
That's about 75 miles southeast of Fukushima, the site of a 9.0 magnitude earthquake last year that triggered a massive tsunami and damaged the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
Tokyo electric power company said the nuclear plant remained stable despite Thursday's earthquake.
Japan's meteorological agency did not issue a tsunami alert.
