JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- This week we're looking at job satisfaction on Office Chat.

Job satisfaction describes "the happiness or contentment an individual feels when he/she assesses the nature of their job," said Paul Fadil, a professor of organizational behavior and international management at the UNF Coggin College of Business.

"Dr. Paul" as he's known in the firstcoastnews.com chat room, is a regular feature on Good Morning Jacksonville with Joy and Phil.

Managers, here are some telltale signs that show a worker is happy with their job.

• They're not absent.
• They're not looking for another job outside of the market.
• They give 110 percent.
• They're extremely committed and involved.

Fadil said organizations can do things to help their workers be more satisfied on the job, including:

• Autonomy
• Appropriate training
• Feedback
• Job variety
• Task significance

Surprisingly enough, money has never been shown to have any impact on job satisfaction, according to Fadil.  "People love or hate their jobs because of their jobs."

A good relationship with your boss also helps job satisfaction.  Developing a personal and professional relationship with your boss, Fadil said, can directly affect your own happiness in your job.
