St. Johns County Sergeant charged with fraud

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Sergeant was arrested and charged with fraud Thursday.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, Sgt. Monroe West was receiving pay simultaneously for both on-duty and off-duty work.

West was booked into the St. Johns County Jail. His job as Patrol Sergeant was terminated, according to SJCSO. The investigation lasted months.

The 17-year-veteran was charged with an organized scheme to defraud, under $20k, and a public servant falsifying official documents.
