Tractor-trailer loaded with $50k of Ralph Lauren goods stolen

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A tractor-trailer hauling designer goods was stolen from a rest area in St. Augustine Monday night.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office responded to the Southbound rest area of Interstate 95 at mile marker 331 after the driver of a semi reported his truck and trailer stolen, according to a police report from the SJCSO.

The driver claimed he parked his tractor-trailer at the rest area at 7:15 p.m., headed to the restroom and returned to the parking lot to find his semi and trailer gone.

The trailer was carrying Ralph Lauren products, according to the report, valued at more than $50,000.

A GPS locator inside the tractor-trailer led investigators with Florida Highway Patrol to Palatka where the trailer was later recovered. The report does not detail whether the goods inside the trailer were also recovered.

Anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at 904-824-8304.
