Southside drowning victim identified

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 61-year-old landscaper drowned in a retention pond Thursday evening after he was pinned underneath a four-wheeler.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is calling Gale Eugene Johnson's incident an accident.

JSO says it happened in the Preserve Community inside the Paradise Island apartment complex.

Johnson worked for a company employed by the complex. One of his co-workers found him shortly before 7 p.m.

JSO has not released the identity of the victim or the company he worked for.

Paradise Island is cooperating in the investigation.
