Story:Who is Matt Shirk?
In his Friday interview, Shirk told the Florida Times-Union he "may have lost" the public's trust" in the past week, during which revelations surfaced about his apparent prolonged absence from work, his wife's alleged firing of two young women, and allegations of drinking and fraternizing in his office. Shirk denied that he ordered the deliberate destruction of public records.
"I can assure you, I have not ordered the destruction of any public record, I have not violated any laws," he said.
