Porch shooting in Palatka sends one to the hospital

PALATKA, Fla. – An altercation lead to a shooting in Palatka Tuesday afternoon.

The Palatka Police Department responded to a shooting in at the intersection of 16th Street and Washington at 12:35 p.m., according to PPD Assistant Chief Griffith.

Police are now looking for two men -- Jeritz Jones, 22, and Alex Evans, 20 -- who are wanted for questioning in the case.

Farrellton McCullough was found to be sitting on the porch of a home in the 1600 block of Washington Street with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, Griffith said. The extent of his injuries is not known.

Police believe an argument lead to the shooting that sent the victim to Putnam Community Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect in the shooting reportedly pulled a gun as the victim approached, fired several times and fled in a white mid-sized vehicle. An investigation is underway.
