Deputies find suspected meth lab in Ponte Vedra home

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office discovered a suspected meth lab while issuing a search warrant at a home near the Ponte Vedra Golf and Country Club.

The warrant was served around 9 a.m. Friday at the home the 100 block of Bermuda Court where deputies arrested David Christopher Austin, 34- and 22-year-old Kayleigh Adair Wyman.

The two were charged with possession of methamphetamine, production of methamphetamine, maintaining a drug dwelling and possession of drug paraphernalia and were booked into the County Jail.

Detectives seized a large amount of precursors and equipment allegedly used to manufacture methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia.

St. Johns County Fire and Rescue was on scene to assist with the decontamination process.

John David Whitaker, 26, was also arrested during the investigation when he drove to the home on Bermuda Court while the warrant was being issued. Whitaker was taken into custody for driving on a suspended license.

The total market just value of the property is $111,617, according to property records. Those arrested are not the listed owners of the home.
