Passenger killed in fatal crash on I-75

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. -- A 63-year-old woman was killed while riding as a passenger Monday night on Interstate 75.

Linda Myrick was riding with 69-year-old McArthur Myrick in a 2005 Nissan Titan northbound on I-75 when their truck was hit by a 1999 Honda Civic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Civic was headed northbound on I-75 behind Myrick when the driver drove off the road and lost control, attempting to get back on the highway.

The driver of the Civic hit the front of Myrick's truck forcing both vehicles off the shoulder. Myrick's truck overturned, ejecting the passenger. Her husband, the driver was partially ejected.

The driver of the Civic had minor injuries.

Myrick was taken to UF Shands in critical condition. His wife died at the scene.
