Palatka woman charged in armed robbery attempt

PALATKA, Fla. - A homeless woman in Palatka is facing charges related to an Oct. 27 shooting and robbery.

Frasheeda Hagans, 23, is accused of attempting to rob a 31-year-old Palatka man at gunpoint, according to a release from the Palatka Police Department.

When police arrived on scene in the 2500 block of West Main Street, the victim had Hagans pinned to the ground. According to police, Hagans shot her victim in the leg during the robbery attempt. The victim then struggled with Hagan, who was shot in the leg with her own gun in the process. Both Hagans and her victim were transported to University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

The investigation continued and Hagan's was arrested Jan. 16 and charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She was also arrested on two outstanding warrants, one from Putnam County and another from St. Johns County.
