One killed, two hurt in Northside crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A collision between a car and a SUV on the Northside Friday night killed one person and sent two others to the hospital, police said.

Officers were called to the scene of a crash just after 10:30 p.m. Their investigation found that a white car was heading north on Lem Turner Road when the driver tried to make a left turn onto Lake Forest Boulevard and crossed into the path of a SUV heading south on Lem Turner, causing a crash, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

A passenger in the white car was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries, but later died, police said. The car's driver and the SUV's driver were taken to the hospital with injuries not deemed to be life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation.
