Testosterone Patch Could Increase Sex Drive During Menopause

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- For so many women over age 50, menopause means a drop in desire to have sex.

Dr. Andrew Kaunitz, a Jacksonville Gynecologist with the University of Florida, is working with dozens of doctors nationwide on a patch that would replace the testosterone a woman loses during menopause.

It's that testosterone that helps create sexual desire, he tells us.

Before it approves Intrinsa -- the patch developed by Proctor & Gamble -- the Food & Drug Administration wants to see more safety tests.

It was no problem for Dr. Kaunitz and the other doctors to recruit more than 2000 women for the study.
