JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Prisoners of war and those still missing in action were Honored today at NAS Jacksonville.
The third week in September is designated National POW and MIA recognition week.
National observances are held to reaffirm the promise to fallen comrades that they are not forgotten.
Relatives, friends and city leaders attended the ceremony.
"We remind ourselves and our country not to forget our responsibilities to those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice," said Navy Capt. John C. Scorby, the commanding officer at NAS Jax.
The ceremony ended with a 21-gun salute, followed by a "Missing Man" formation fly-over.
