JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A leader of the First Coast group calling itself, "the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense" says he plans to run for the Duval County School Board.

Mikhail Muhammad told First Coast News our schools are the place where social change can begin. He says recent events like the nooses found on firefighters gear show blacks in America have never been wanted.

"We have never been wanted in America. They have used us. They have abused us. They have killed us. They have raped us, and today, we are fighting with nooses on the bed posts of firemen in downtown Jacksonville," said Mikhail Muhammad, New Black Panther Party.

Muhammed tells us he feels teachers should be more responsible for being gender role models to our young people.
