Exclusive Interview with John Legend

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Rising Star John Legend brought his headline tour to the First Coast.

He is quickly becoming one to be reckoned with in the music industry. In just a short time he has gone from being in the background to commanding the center stage.

Legend brought his headline tour to Jacksonville on Sunday, June 26th.

He spoke exclusively with First Coast News about how it's been for him on the road and why after such a short time he is already headlining a tour. "I think given the success of the album, it only makes sense we are headlining our own tour. Now that we sold one point two million records and built a following," says Legend.

After touring for a little over a month overseas, Legend brought his tour back to the United States. Legend tells us, "The crowds have been so energetic so much fun. We're just having a good time."

The R & B newcomer has had success singing backup for many big names like Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys and his good friend, Kanye West.

Legend recently was asked to participate in a fundraiser for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. He also took part in Oprah Winfrey's Black Ball Luncheon. "For her to ask me to come and do that even with all the other people that were there was such an honor such a privilege. i was just in aw of the guest list."

Just this week, John performed with legendary artist Stevie Wonder on the BET Awards. Further proof this man has a long way to go.
