JACKSONVILLE, FL -- JEA says they can make it happen while helping to save the environment as well. More than 700 residential JEA customers and 25 businesses have converted to solar.
With the cost of fuel going up, JEA says the incentive to install a solar system does too. They'll pay 30 percent of your installation cost.
Laundromat owner Dan Siecker is always looking to cut his bottom line. "With all the sun we have in Florida, I thought this would be a good business to utilize solar energy to heat the water."
The cost on converting his business was $12,000. With JEA's help, it cost $8,000.
There are already several places around town using solar. The Police Memorial Building and the Prime Osborn use it to heat water. City Hall uses it to generate electricity and two schools, Bolles and Mandarin High are using solar power to heat the pools.
