JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Six students at Paxon Middle are accused of a hate crime following injuries received by three other students on the school's track. Police say the incident happened last Wednesday.

The students arrested range in age from 11 to 14. Police say students uttered the words, "This is white cracker season." Witnesses told police the students then began to punch and kick three other students.

Kenneth Badger's son is one of alleged victims. Badger says, "Well, I was pretty teed off." Badger says his 6th grader was punched in the head. This dad says he be in Juvenile Court Tuesday morning, "I'm going down there to find out what they get."

The mother of one of suspects says the hate crime charge is strong. She says, "He was wrong for hitting him, but the battery, the hate part is the part I don't get."

The six students have been suspended from school.

The Code of Student Conduct calls for an additional suspension from school if the students are found guilty.
