Donna Foundation Recipients Benefit from Marathon

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --  When runners hit the streets of Jacksonville Beach on Sunday for the third annual 26.2 With Donna, breast cancer survivors all over the first coast will benefit.

While 70 percent of the proceeds from the race go to cutting edge research at the Mayo Clinic, 30 percent of the funds go to The Donna Foundation, which provides for the critical needs of breast cancer survivors in need on the First Coast.

Since its inception in 2003, the Foundation has served more than 3,000 women and even a few men with breast cancer, who otherwise wouldn't be able to make ends meet during their breast cancer treatment.

The Foundation, and its partner Catholic Charities, determine the level of need and then send funds for everything from mortgages, to co-pays, to child care providers.

Shannon Ogden talked with three recipients about what the Donna Foundation has meant for them.

Debra Mashagbeh, Juanita Roberts, and Trish Usina say it's been a lifesaver.
