JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- The dolphins at Marineland are talented but some have an artistic side that you may not know about. At next weekend's St. Augustine Fall Arts and Crafts Festival, the dolphins will have a booth showcasing their artwork. The Association donated a booth to Marineland's Dolphin Conservation Center. The dolphins are trained to hold a piece of foam in their mouth. It has a paint brush attached to it and the dolphins are taught to touch the end of the brush to a canvas. As the dolphin becomes more experienced in painting, different head moves are encouraged to create interesting paint strokes. Both Marineland and the Art Association are hoping that the dolphins efforts will raise awareness about Marineland's Dolphin Conservation Center, and inspire festival guests to visit the dolphins at the center. Additionally, all profits made from the dolphin artwork will be used by Marineland to continue to keep the dolphins healthy and make their lives more enriching. The festival takes place at Francis Field in St. Augustine on November 28th and 29th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
