PALATKA, Fla. -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 49 year-old man.
The body was discovered near a bulkhead at a road construction zone in the area of Silver Lake Drive in Palatka.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office says the body is that of 49-year-old Joel L. Rife, from Palatka.
A man and his child, who were walking down the roadway discovered the body Saturday night.
The exact cause of death is not known at this time, but it appears the victim may have fallen down the embankment at the work site.
Investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit and investigators from the Medical Examiner's Office are currently investigating the incident.
