JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A suspect is recovering after being shot by an undercover officer during a drug deal, police said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit conducted an undercover sting this morning on Princely Drive in Northwest Jacksonville.

The deal started as planned when the buyer, undercover officer D.J. Sosnowski, met with a suspected seller, 22-year-old Bruce Kohn, just after 11 a.m.

According to reports, Kohn sold suspected ecstasy to Sosnowski for $300 JSO cash. Once the deal was completed, take-down officers started to move in. Kohn made the comment to Sosnowski, "you called the police on me?," then pulled out his loaded weapon, according to JSO.

The officer shot Kohn once in the neck. He has just come out of surgery. The officer was not hurt.

JSO has listened to a recording, and will release more information as it becomes available. Bruce Kohn has no criminal history. This is Sosnowski's second police-involved shooting.
