JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Team from across the First Coast raced in beds to help a local charity. They competed in the City Rescue Mission's annual Bed Race and Family Festival. This is the sixth year they have held the event. Teams from schools and companies and the City Rescue Mission pay an entry fee and raise money through sponsors . Bill Duigid, the Chief Operating Officer of City Rescue Mission, says the event is important to the mission. "We look forward to the money raised for our increasing need," said Duguid. "It went up about 25 per cent last year and is expected to be about the same this year." Duiguid says the money comes in handy because the mission does not receive local, state or federal funding. The A. J. Johns Construction company won the competition today.
