COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- Sheriff's deputies knew who they were looking for in connection to a shooting in early November at an American Legion post. Two weeks later, they found him.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, 19-year-old Johnny Lee Collins opened fire outside the American Legion on Bond Street around 1 a.m. Sunday, November 8.
A female was seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital. Two males also were hit, one of whom was hospitalized.
Early Monday morning, a tip led deputies to a home on SE St. Johns Street, where they found Collins hiding in a bathroom closet.
He was arrested and remains in jail with no bond, charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
All three victims are expected to recover.
