JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- For the 15th straight year the annual Jaguars and Winn-Dixie food drive took place at the stadium. Donations of non-perishable food items were taken from fans at all six gates beginning. 50 volunteers helped collect the food. Food donated goes to the Second Harvest Food Bank. The food drive organizers say the need for food continues to be great. "We've seen a 30% increase in demand since the recession started. Statistics just released this week show 1 in 8 americans are on food stamps, more are hurting in our community than ever before. Demand is really unprecedented," says the director of procurement Jim Chynoweth with the Second Harvest Food Bank. Chynoweth says $1 can help provide for six meals since the food bank buys in bulk. The first 2,500 fans donating received a player yearbook and a reusable Jaguars grocery bag. Cash
donations were also taken.
