ORLANDO, Fla. -- Universal Studios and Disney World are offering steep discounts, if you look in the right place.

It's the place you can ride the movies and make dreams come true. But many think Orlando's big theme parks aren't the place where you can have fun on a budget.

"Orlando on a budget is not impossible. All of the parks, all of the downtown establishments, they all offer deals for people coming from Jacksonville," says Universal Orlando spokesperson Meara Lyons.

At Universal Studios, they've kicked off a new deal for Florida residents: unlimited admission to both Universal Studios and Island of Adventure through Jan. 31 for $89.99.

"Which is insane when you think about how many times you can come here in that period of time. But you can save $10 with a promo code from Coke or Firehouse Subs," Lyons told First Coast News' Erich Spivey.

And you should be on the lookout for specials. During the Super Bowl earlier this year, Universal offered up free, seven-day passes to people who filled out an online form. No word if that's coming back in 2010.

A lot has changed recently at Universal. A new interactive roller coaster called Rip Ride Rockit opened and you can pick your own soundtrack. And coming later next year is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Construction is well underway for the all-new section at Islands of Adventure.

Meanwhile, Disney also has big plans for 2010. It's a program called Give a Day, Get a Disney Day. Spend one day volunteering and you'll get a one-day Disney park ticket, absolutely free.

Disney has partnered with the HandsOn volunteer network, which has offices across the country. Judy Smith heads up Jacksonville's office.

"We usually just give back thanks (for volunteering). And that's good. That's usually what people want for their volunteering. But to also say here's a Disney day. How fun is that," Smith says.
