JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Three people escaped an explosion and fire at a house on the Southside Friday morning.

The incident happened at a home on Begbie Drive.  The owner told First Coast News she heard a loud boom, looked outside and saw an SUV on fire.

"There's a lot of smoke and we came down the hall through the smoke. As we got to the door, the fire was coming out and we had to run through it." fire victim Elizabeth Dixon says.

The flames spread to their house.  All three people inside got out safely.

"Everybody got out all right and everybody's alive. You can buy another house and another car, but you can't buy another life," Dixon says.

Investigators don't have a cause yet.

The owner of the house says two cars burned.  The house appears to be a total loss.
