ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Quinn Gray did not attend her pretrial hearing this afternoon, but her new attorney, Mark NeJame, was there with her husband, Reid Gray.
The court scheduled Gray's next hearing for Jan. 5. She remains charged with extortion but free on bail, and is receiving treatment at an acute care facility in Georgia.
Earlier today the attorney for Jasmin Osmanovic, who is also accused in the same extortion plot, was in court for a pretrial hearing. Hank Coxe hinted that he may file a motion for a gag order, following a national media interview about the case this morning during which his client was accused of crimes that he has not been charged with.
Investigators say 37-year-old Gray, from Ponte Vedra, and 25-year-old Osmanovic, from Jacksonville, created an elaborate plot to extort $50,000 from Gray's husband.
Gray's husband reported her missing the Friday before Labor Day. She was located on Labor Day in Orange Park and maintains she was kidnapped by Osmanovic.
This morning, Coxe also asked that any information regarding Gray's mental condition be sent to him as well as the state.
NeJame has represented George and Cynthia Anthony, the parents of Casey Anthony, who is accused in the death of her child. He also was involved in the case of Haleigh Cummings who disappeared earlier this year from her Satsuma home and still has not been found.
