JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Hundreds of America's fighting men and women based in Jacksonville are almost home after a year in Iraq.

The Florida Army National Guard's 146th Signal Battalion is scheduled to touch down on the First Coast Thursday.

They left Florida last October to set up and operate communications equipment for coalition forces throughout Iraq.

The 146th arrived in Texas Sept. 25, and are wrapping up their post-deployment processing.

Thursday, they leave for Jacksonville International Airport.

Their official greeting will be at Cecil Commerce Center, where military leaders, friends and family will be on hand to say "welcome home" to the more than 250 soldiers.
