CLAY COUNTY, FL -- A good samaritan who helped rescue the only survivor out of a car as it caught fire, said he was just in the right place at the right time.
That car slammed into the back of school bus filled with children on Tuesday afternoon.
Arnold Mosley called First Coast News to share his story.
Mosley showed First Coast News Reporter Monica Landeros how he hooked a chain to his hitch, which helped pull the car and the school bus apart.
"If we would have left the car there, that bus would have caught fire," said Mosley.
Mosley said he happens to keep the chains in his truck all the time.
"When we pulled (the car) back, there was still a lot of debris on fire," said Mosley.
Mosley's heroic actions don't stop there. Another man trying to help at the crash scene handed him a pair of pliers to break the car window.
Together, Mosley said they scooped out the only survivor, 16-year-old Samantha Brantley.
"Both doors were jammed from the impact and we couldn't get them open. So, the only way to get to her was to break the glass," said Mosley.
Mosley said the girl did not appear hurt, but complained of a stomach ache.
Florida Highway Patrol said Samantha's 19-year old sister, Elisabeth died at the scene. Both are from Interlachen.
Another passenger, 48-year-old Paul Bruchesky, also died at the scene.
As Mosley thinks about those hectic seconds, he says he is just happy to help.
"I'd do it again. Matter of fact, same corner there have been three other wrecks that I've stopped to help at," said Mosley.
Mosley has contacted police to help with the investigation. He said he is keeping the survivor in his thoughts and prayers.
