JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Jacksonville's family just keeps on growing, now adding its eighth sister.

Mayor John Peyton and Mayor Jorge Santini of San Juan, Puerto Rico, will join together to make the partnership official in a ceremony on October 2 in downtown Jacksonville.

This partnership makes a lot of sense, because it makes a lot of dollars.

Puerto Rico is Jacksonville's largest trading partner, with an annual economic impact of over $1 billion, according to city officials.

Also, over 75% of all marine traffic from the U.S. to Puerto Rico goes through JaxPort.

Joining the mayors for the ceremony will be members of the Jacksonville Sister Cities program and the Puerto Rico Chamber of Northeast Florida.

Jacksonville has sisters all over the globe:
Curitiba, Brazil
Bahia Blanca, Argentina
Port Elizabeth, South Africa
Nantes, France
Murmansk, Russia
Yingkou, China
Masan, Korea
