PUTNAM COUNTY, FL -- The bomb squad is on the scene in a patch of woods near Bostwick.
A survey crew found a training munition known as an "mk26" in the area north of Palatka near U.S. 17.
The mk26 is used by the Navy and usually is not explosive.
Sometimes, however, it will be modified with a small explosive charge for certain training exercises.
Putnam County officials are unable to determine which type of mk26 this is, so they called in the St. Johns County bomb squad to make sure everyone is safe and the device is disposed of properly.
