ORANGE PARK, FL -- The school year does not start for another month and a half, but that did not stop students across Clay County from making a special visit to the classroom on Monday.

Doctors and nurses from the St. Vincent's Mobile Unit and University of North Florida gave free school physicals and immunization shots at W.E. Cherry Elementary School in Orange Park.

Children of all grade levels were seen in the school's library. Doctors did both school physicals and sports physicals, and gave immunization shots alongside rows of library books.

The Clay County Health Department helped coordinate the back-to-school clinic. They did it to help both the families and the schools. Children cannot start school in the fall without their proper immunization shots and a physical.

More than 100 students participated in the free clinic.

The next free clinic is July 14, 2009 at Wilkinson Elementary School from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Wilkinson Elementary SChool is located at 4965 County Road 218. The clinic is free; children just need to bring a shot card or shot record for immunization services and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
