LAKE CITY, FL -- A 3-year-old child drowned Sunday afternoon in a swimming pool in Lake City, according to the local sheriff's office.
Around 1:30 p.m., deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office were called to a home on Sugar Cane Road near Highway 41 because of an unresponsive child.
Fire and rescue crews transported the 3-year-old child to Lake Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation by Sheriff's Deputies concluded that the drowning was a tragic accident.
