JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A local family won't be sleeping at home tonight after a fire tore through their home.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue was on the scene at the Oakwood Villa Apartments on Kona Ave. in Arlington this afternoon to fight the fire.
A JFRD spokesperson says the fire caused too much damage to allow the family to stay there.
The one adult and one child who live there are being taken care of by the Red Cross while the damage is assessed.
Nobody was inside at the time of the fire, and there are no injuries.
JFRD also says they were able to put the fire out before it spread to any adjoining apartments, so only the one apartment is affected.
Investigators are still on the scene trying to determine the cause of the fire.
