PALM COAST, FL -- A freight train carrying hydrochloric acid, lumber and vehicles derailed near Palm Coast.

Two engines and 37 cars derailed, according to Marsha Lidskin, the community relations coordinator for the City of Palm Coast.

The incident happened near Hargrove Grade, an industrial area just west of U.S. 1 and Palm Coast Parkway.

No one has been evacuated since the derailment happened in a rural area and only a small amount of the acid leaked, according to Deborah Johnson with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. A conductor and passenger suffered minor injuries.

The derailment sparked two small brush fires, but firefighters have the fires under control.

The St. Johns County Hazmat team and a team from Florida East Coast Railroad are assisting with the cleanup.

The train was on its way to Miami from Jacksonville.
