JACKSONVILLE, FL -- There are plenty of hybrid cars for sale.
After years of being hot, demand for Hybrids has cooled off.
The result -- pricing on Toyota's hybrid Prius is at an all-time low, starting at $22,000. Arlington Toyota has 40 on the lot, with supply way above demand
"One thing I saw in the past, they were not only willing to go on a waiting list for a hybrid vehicle, but often people were bidding over MSRPs, to try to bid out another customer. The market has totally changed," Mark Wootan of Arlington Toyota told First Coast News' Erich Spivey.
Honda is also in the hybrid price war -- the new Insight hit showrooms this week. It's the first new hybrid in America priced under $20,000.
"Probably a majority of the market, what deterred them in the past was it was a little overpriced. ... Now, they've found cheaper ways to make it now," Marcus Meyer of Coggin Honda.
