JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Blanca Toda is 83 years old, but still actively plays instruments and teaches Spanish at a senior center.

This is where Toda was trying to back out of a parking space, when her car lunged forward, and ramped over concrete parking blocks.

When she hit a tree, her car flipped and started leaking gas.

"Everybody was stunned, they didn't know what happened. And this young boy, Jamar, ran over and said, 'Come on lady, I can pull you out.' And he did," Toda recalled during an interview with First Coast News' Erich Spivey.

"I had to pry the door open and then I pulled her out," Williams says.

Jamar is just 14 years old. But his actions that day garnered admiration from Jacksonville's top cop.

"So many times you hear people say this is a bad generation, the worst generation. Well, Jamar is showing that's not true," says Sheriff John Rutherford.

A few hours after the ceremony, we arranged for Jamar to meet the woman he saved.

It's the first time they've seen each other since that day in December. Jamar brought his award from the Sheriff and Toda, once again, expressed her thanks.
