PALATKA, FL -- A Putnam County Sheriff's Officer has her job back after appealing an internal steroid investigation.

Sheriff Dean Kelly has decided Lieutenant Teresa Odom will not be demoted to a Sergeant. She will, however, be suspended without pay for seven days, and recieve a letter of reprimand.

In late September the Sheriff's Office launched an internal investigation into a complaint that accused Odom and Detective Elton Miller of buying the prescription thyroid medication Cynomel from Detective William Prioletti.

Prioletti resigned shortly after the investigation began. Because of what the Putnam County Sheriff's Office calls "idiosyncrasies in the investigations," he was the only officer that faced a criminal charge.

Detective Miller was suspended, without pay, for three days, was put on probation, and received a letter of reprimand.

Cynomel is the Mexican equivalent of Cytomel, a thyroid hormone that produces effects in the body similar to steroids. It is sometimes abused by bodybuilders.
