PALATKA, FL -- The St. Johns County bomb squad made a trip down to Palatka today, and it was good that they did. Palatka does not have a bomb squad of its own, so it isn't unusual to call in St. Johns County's squad. There was a "suspicious device" in a shopping center on State Road 19, and it turned out to be a pipe bomb. The bomb squad detonated it, and nobody was hurt. Nobody has been arrested, and if you know anything could help police, call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477). You will remain anonymous and could receive a cash reward.
