JACKSONVILLE, FL -- There are children still being cared for at Kids Creations and More childcare facility on the Northside. But Monday, the facility was served with an 'intent to revoke license' notice from the Department of Children and Families.
"Our first concern is the safety of all children. If we feel children are not safe, then we have to take measures," said John Harrell, a spokesman for DCF.
Kids Creations wouldn't let First Coast News inside the facility, nor grant us an interview.
But it all stems from a field trip the facility took the children on to the Chuck E. Cheese's in Regency last week. They apparently piled kids into a van that seats 15.
"They're trying to put 38 children into one van. It's unacceptable, it's inhumane," said Harrell.
DCF rushed inspectors over to Kids Creations after the incident.
Their report showed nearly a third of the requirements checked weren't up to standard.
Inspectors found an unstable crib, cockroaches in the kitchen, and unsafe outdoor grounds and equipment. And that's not all.
"The proper ratio of teachers to students, the training of staff wasn't completed on time," said Harrell.
Harrell also says the person that drove the children to Chuck E. Cheese's just had a learner's permit.
He says the driver that showed up after police arrived, had an even worse record.
"The second driver didn't even work for the facility and had a criminal record, charged with assault with a deadly weapon," said Harrell.
Harrell says this isn't the first time Kids Creation has been in violation of a number of codes.
Kids Creation has 21 days to appeal the intent to revoke, or their license will be revoked.
