JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Jacksonsville Police say a Myspace account led to an arrest of a First Coast man for allegedly impersonating a federal police officer.

Police say Andrew Diaz, 27, posed online in pictures with police gear, from a shirt to a badge and a gun.

Police also say one of the pictures Diaz had on his online account showed his "federal police car".

The only problem JSO says is Diaz is not a federal law enforcement officer.

"When you got a person impersonating a law enforcement officer there's no telling what their motives are or what they are trying to do or to accomplish," says Ken Jefferson of the JSO.

First Coast News has learned that at one time Diaz did work as a civilian police officer for the government out at Mayport.

Mayport officials say Diaz worked there for eleven months and was let go last August. According to the police report, Diaz was fired because he allegedly provided false information on a government report.

JSO says that not only was Diaz posing as a federal officer online, but he was also telling other federal officers that he was one of them.

Jefferson says Diaz recently showed credentials to several Federal officers at the Federal Reserve Bank here in Jacksonville. Police say he told the officers two different times that he was a federal law enforcement officer.

"He portrayed himself as a fellow law enforcement officer...as if he was in the fraternity. Obviously this person has some kind of issues, infatuation of being a law enforcement officer of some type, but he took it to the extreme," says Jefferson.

First Coast News has learned Diaz was making trips to the Federal Reserve Bank because he works as a guard and driver for a local armored car service.

Diaz's wife and his employer declined to comment about the arrest.

Diaz is in the Duval County jail on a $45,000 bond.
