Neighbors worry about missing Jacksonville woman

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Neighbors are worried about a Jacksonville woman who vanished without a trace earlier this week.

The sheriff's office said Kimberly Dawn Mackey, 48, was last seen Monday in the 2700 block of Suni Pines Boulevard on the city's south side.

She is 5'3'' and weighs between 130-150 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes.

Investigators at this point believe foul play is involved in her disappearance, but have released no further information.

"I really pray that nothing happened to her," said neighbor Brian Sotelo.

Sotelo told First Coast News on Friday he and Mackey were not close friends, but that he thought she was harmless.

"She's usually out here working on her lawn, taking care of the plants and flowers and stuff. I've never heard anything bad about her," he said.

The sheriff's office has kept a marked squad car outside one mobile home trailer in the area where Mackey was last seen.

Sotelo said he believed she lived there with a man and a dog.

He said police kicked in the door after receiving complaints the dog would not stop barking.

"I never would have expected it. I had no idea what was going on. To see this, it's scary," he said.

To the best of his knowledge, Sotelo said the man is also missing along with what he believed was one of their two cars.

But what baffled him the most is he said he has seen no signs of trouble in the area before. "As far as I know, the cops have never been called here or anything like that. You know, it's usually very quiet."

Now, he said he is praying for the best possible outcome.

"I hope she got sick or something and ended up in the hospital, or just went to visit somebody," he said.

Anyone who has any information in regards to the whereabouts of Kimberly Dawn Mackey or has seen her since May 26 is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500.

To remain anonymous and receive a possible reward up to $3,000 for this case, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
