Motorcyclists killed in crash identified

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The two motorcyclists killed in Thursday night's crash were identified as 31-year-old Jason L. Sanders and 29-year-old Ashley B. Goetzinger.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 50-year-old driver of a Ford van was driving northbound on Cassat Avenue approaching Normandy Boulevard around 10:15 p.m. when the collision occurred.

FHP say the driver of the van was attempting to make a left turn crossing the southbound lanes of Cassat when he collided with the front of the Harley Davidson that was traveling southbound on Cassat.

Both the driver and the passenger were ejected from the motorcycle. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to FHP.

The driver of the van had minor injuries.

Authorities are investigating whether or not alcohol was a factor.
